Elight is a combination of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) and RF (Radio Frequency) which gradually heat the dermis to a target temperature at which it damages the hair follicles (to prevent regrowth) without damaging the surrounding tissue. The machine has a built-in cooling system that cools the skin during treatment to minimise the risk of burning while the light maintains contact with the dermis.
